Houston Pride 2022

The Parade

Parade Video
KHOU did a good job broadcasting the parade,
though with some technical difficulties: they
lost the sound feed (the announcers) for about
20 minutes, unfortunately during the Grand Marshal
section. So we got video with music at a distance.

And Pride forgot the Banners for each Grand Marshal,
so the crowd did not really know who they were watching.

But, the video doc KHOU made, 47 min, for the GMS was extraordinary.

and yes, there was more to the Festival in addition to the History Tent,
but I just didn't see those photos on Facebook

These photos harvested mostly from Facebook. I hope to add to them
when Dalton adds his to his site.

Remember, this was extra challenging for the Pride org, as they
were honoring the Grand Marshals for three years.

Misgivings.....
Of course you can't please everyone...

and chatter from Facebook

My own complaint: I do not like the use of jeeps for the Grand Marshals.
I realize that Pride considers it a win-win as they do not cost anything,
but the jeeps do NOT showcase the GMs in their moment of glory.
They were in all different designs, as you would expect from vehicles
donated, but some were difficult for older members to even climb into.
Also, the design of a jeep (compared to convertibles in past years) so
NOT allow for good photos, again in the GMs ride. One friend complained
that in addition to the jeep he got he was contorted into a very awkward
position. He said he lasted about two blocks and had to sit down, so no
one saw him. Little honor for him, and no good photos.

I suggest Pride contact car dealers to get loans of convertibles next year.
