1985 to ~1999

Tracking this history is a challenge, as at times the address was
three different businesses at the same time, and they came and went.
But first here is the pre-history, as Boobie Rock, a topless straight club.

Below, during the 1979 Pride Parade, the sign on the street and building closer to Mary's

In mid-1985 community leader Andy Mills opened Charlie's Coffee Shop.
And for fifteen years it was a 24-hour night spot, popular after
the bars closed. It was often used for meeting spaces for various
groups, like the AIDS Equity League, and many others.

Andy was also manager of Mary's, across the street, and
both businesses were Very supportive of the gay community.
