When I found the above ad in a 1978 copy of an Upfront newspaper, I knew I had to try to
track it down, as this was wonderful Houston LGBT music history. And it was taking a little
while, and did not look hopeful, so I began Facebook networking about it, and Virginia Galloway
got me to a man who used to live in Houston, Ken, who said he had a copy of the LP and very
graciously sent it to me for my archives. So I much thank these folks and of course am making
the entire album available for download.

Please note the very telling sign of closeted times from the ad...
they chose not to use the name Metropolitan Community Church
on the actual LP "to allow the album to be enjoyed by anyone
without regard to Sexual Orientation." Without seeing this ad I
would never have guessed the connection.

at least as recently as 2011, Rev. Jo Crisco was pastor at a MCC ongretation on Montgomery, Alababa

Side comment: the image used in the above ad (with permission?) was that of hit gay singer/songwriter Paul Jabara,
who gave us "It's Raining Men," "Enough Is Enough," "Last Dance," and others. I doubt he was lonely.

Apparently, there was a press conference on 11/27/78, as seen by this Houston Post Photo
showing Steve Shiflett, Howard Wells (of MCC) and Larry Bagneris

1982 Music

On Saturday June 26 during the 1982 Gay Pride Week, the Houston
MCCR Choir participated in the Fred Paez Memorial Concert.

I thank Andy Mills for loaning me a tape of that concert, so that I could
make it available for download
