Choices and Azulão

Herstory of a Womyn's Magazine

Here's what I could put together of their history...
It appears Carol Beverage and several others, including Doreen Grant,
founded Choices in March 1983. Apparently Grant filed a registration for
the name, and Carol and the others decided rather than to fight over it,
to continue under a different name. This was explained in their May 1984 issue.

They chose the name Azulão, the name of a Cris Williamson song, snd essentially,
it was the same magazine...same staff, format, layout, contributors, etc.

Azulão Organizes as
Feminist
Support Group

And in June 1984 Azulão, the group
was formed. This is the only article
I found mentioning them.
U of H has three issues,
through Nov 1984.

Unknown how long the publication lasted or really,
the organization, though The Montrose Voice
carried listings through August 1986.
They may have been giving the org a wide
benefit of the doubt.
